Datovka for Android and iDatovka Apps Selected Best Czech eGovernment Projects

Prague, 27 November 2013 – Multiplatform applications for accessing eGovernment mailboxes, Datovka for Android and iDatovka, have won the highest award in “The Best of 2013” contest in the category of Best National eGovernment Project. Both applications were created at the CZ.NIC Laboratories, the research and development centre of the CZ.NIC Association, the administrator of the Czech national domain. The contest, which was held this year for the eighth time, is organised by eGovernment magazine in collaboration with the consulting firm KMPG.

iDatovka was the very first application that allowed access to eGovernment mailboxes from iPads and iPhones. Today, the application and its sister project Datovka for Android are used by more than 15,000 people, mostly employees of small and medium-sized companies and entrepreneurs.

“We are very honoured by the recognition of Datovka for Android and iDatovka. For us, it is mainly acknowledgement of our work in research and development. The award also shows that high quality eGovernment projects do not need to cost millions and that even open source solutions have a chance to succeed,” says Ondřej Filip, executive director of the CZ.NIC Association.

Datovka for Android and iDatovka provide access to ISDS data boxes; they can be used to download incoming and outgoing messages and manage their attachments. The main benefit of the applications is the ability to check your mailbox on the move. More information on our projects related to eGovernment mailboxes can be found on the website of CZ.NIC Labs.
