Key Internet engineers meet in Prague
Prague, 28 March 2011 - Today in Prague starts a major five-day summit of international professional community (Internet Engineering Task Force), which is responsible for designing the specifications required to support the development and stability of the global Internet network. Each working group comprising about 1300 engineers from around the world will meet in Prague to discuss projects relating, in particular, to the security, routing and Internet applications. The 80th jubilee IETF meeting is hosted by CZ.NIC, administrator of the Czech national domain .CZ. One of the IETF’s working groups is co-chaired by Ondřej Surý, Head of CZ.NIC Laboratories.
_“Collaborating on the organization of this kind of meeting is a major event for CZ.NIC and the entire Czech internet community. I myself am mostly looking forward to the joint panel discussion with Geoff Huston, a renowned expert on the decline in the number of IPv4 addresses and the transition to the IPv6 protocol,” _said Ondřej Filip, Executive Director of CZ.NIC association.
A key element in the functioning of the IETF is the institute of working groups. The aim of these groups is to always deliver a detailed documentation and a set of recommendations regarding a particular issue, taking into account the positive contribution to Internet community worldwide. Ondřej Surý is one of the co-chairs of the working group Dane WG, which deals with the possibility of saving and validation of certificates in DNS.
“If we can achieve the intended result, which our working group is concerned with, it could fundamentally change the way you work with certificates in Internet services. For example, it would be no longer necessary to request web page certificates from certification authorities; instead, everyone would be able to create such a certificate by themselves and save it in their own DNS secured by DNSSEC. This would save time and money,“ added Ondřej Surý, Head of CZ.NIC Laboratories.

About IETF and IETF Meeting
The Internet engineering Task Force (IETF) is The Internet’s premier technical standards body. It gathers a large open international community of network designers, operators, vendors and researchers concerned with the evolution of the Internet architecture and the smooth operation of the Internet. More information at www.ietf.org.
The IETF organises three events every year that enable the groups to meet in person. The events therefore are a continuation of the work. During the event, the many hundreds of engineers get together in Working Groups to work towards solutions to the Internet’s most challenging technical problems in areas including: routing, transport, security and applications.
